Twikini

twikini_theme_htcblack.png A couple of months ago I bought a HTC Touch Diamond. (The so called iPhone Killer). Great phone and because it runs on Windows Mobile there are a lot of great apps available for it. One of these apps is a Twitter Client called Twikini.

Most Twitter clients on my phone can’t show me the whole message. In worst case they can’t even present it in a nice looking interface. This app does both and comes with a cool bird sound to notify you when there’s a new twit.

It’s baked with twitpic integration which does not crash on my 3.2 Megapixel pictures like other clients like tiny twit. Comes with URL shortening software and if you listen to your music on your cell phone you can post them directly to twitter without any fuzz.

You can download it from http://www.trinketsoftware.com/Twikini.

Re-Enable Hibernation in Vista

When you run the disk cleanup wizard in Vista you may have noticed that the Hibernation is missing from Vista. This is due to a known bug in Vista that is till today still not fixed.
Turning it back on is a very simple procedure. Just go to the command line (go to start and type in the big white search bar ‘cmd’ if you don’t know how to get to the command line) and type following line.

powercfg /hibernate on

Its possible that you have to restart your computer or change the energy settings to hibernate again. But now you’ll be able to select it.

For the dutch speaking reader Hibernate is Sluimerstand in Vista not Slaapstand which is Stand-By.

Windows Vista: Tips and Tricks

Speed key’s

What I found very useful is the key combination of the windows key and numbers. The number is vistatipstricks_fastbar.jpg consistent with the object in the menu fast start. So if your Firefox is on place 2 (like with my setup) you can use Win+2 to start your Firefox. Easy and Fast.

We all use the Alt-Tab key to switch programs or even the Win-Tab key to switch programs with the fancy 3D view. But what if you don’t know what you’re looking for? Instead of constantly Alt-Tabbing, try Ctrl-Alt-Tab or Ctrl-Win-Tab to keep the switching open instead of fading back. Also you can try using Alt-Tab/Win and your scroll wheel to ease the program switching even more.

XP’s Up button in Vista

If your used to use the up button in Windows XP you can’t help to notice that Vista only has the back and next button. But no worry’s the functionality is still there, you can call it through the shortcut alt-up. So the next time you started browsing your filesystem and the back button just isn’t good enough, hitting alt-up can be the perfect alternative.
